Located on an island about 10 kilometers from the shores of Mumbai, these caves are made up of temples carved into solid rock dating back to the 7th century.   • Back in the city, continue to explore the city with outdoor visits to the Gateway of India, and British-era monuments such as the University of Mumbai, the Rajabai Clock Tower and the High Court.

  • Considered the largest outdoor laundry room in the world, Dhobi Ghat features rows of open-air concrete washing pillars, each equipped with its own whipping stone. Dirty laundry from all corners of Mumbai is brought to this huge open-air wash house to be carefully hand-washed by the dhobis (washermen). Learn about the lives of hundreds of them who live in the dhobi ghat, where their families have been washing clothes for decades.

  • Passing on Marine Drive, also known as the Queen’s Necklace.
  • Then, continue your visit to Mumbai with a visit to Malabar Hill, where the wealthy district of this great metropolis is located, with its large luxurious houses. You’ll visit the beautiful Jain Temple and Kamala Nehru Park before strolling through the “Hanging Gardens” built in the late 19th century that cover huge water tanks. Later proceed to visit the Sabarmati Ashram (Gandhi Ashram) named after the holy river Sabarmati. This was one of the residences of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.   • Patan : Patan has over 100 beautifully carved Jain temples & many attractive traditional carved wooden houses. Rani Ki Vav is the oldest and the grandest stepwell in the state of Gujarat. It is situated at Patan and is believed to have been built during 1022 to 1063 AD. The construction was completed by the widowed queen Udayamati. It is the centre for fine textiles particularly silk patola sarees produced by the characteristic ‘ikat’ technique.
  • Modhera :   The sun Temple of Modera is one of the finest example of Indian temple architecture of its period.  Built in 1026 A.D. the temple is dedicated to the Sun Goa, Surya and stands high on a plinth overlooking a deep stone- steeped tank. Every inch of the edifice, both inside and outside is magnificently carved with Gods and Goddesses, birds, beasts and flower.
  • Later Drive to Bajana, a small village located a few minutes’ drive from the entrance of the Little Rann of Kutch (Wild Ass Sanctuary National Park of Gujarat –

  • Afternoon visits the local ethnic villages. Enjoy a ride into the park to see the Wild Ass in its natural habitat.

Later proceed to visit the Aina Mahal (Closed on Thursday) or the Palace of Mirrors, located in the old part of the city and houses a museum. Thereafter visit The Kutch Museum (Closed Wednesday), the oldest Museum in Gujarat which has a good collection of artifacts, depicting the history and culture of Bhuj and its surroundings. Also visit the Swaminarayan temple and the Sharad Baugh Palace (Friday Closed), residence of the last King of Kutch, now converted into a museum.

  • After breakfast, leave for a full day excursion to the traditional Bania villages (one needs to obtain permit to visit these villages). Some of the important villages are Bhujjodi, famous for weaving. Padhar and Dhaneti are famous for traditional Ahir embroidery. Dhamanka  is known for block printing. Lilpur is known for its embroidery while the village of Anjar is famous for block printing, tie and dye items and traditional betel nut crackers.

  • The Ropeway  is providing immense convenience to people who are otherwise unable to climb 5000 steps to reach the sumit. The Ropeway is the largest one in Gujarat.
  • Later proceed to Gir Forest National Park. Discover the lair of the extremely endangered Asiatic lion in Gir, the small forest reserve that remains his last sanctuary. The Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (also known as Sasan-Gir) is the sole home of the pure Asiatic Lions. The Hindi name Gir stands for forest. Measuring about 258 km² for the fully protected area (the National Park) and 1153 km² for the Sanctuary, the area is considered to be one of the most important protected areas in Asia due to its supported species.
  • Proceed to Evening Safari by private Jeep.  
  • The sanctuary’s has 37 other mammal species apart from Asiatic Lion, most of which have also increased in numbers, include dainty chital (spotted deer), sambar (large deer), nilgais (blue bull / large antelopes), chousinghas (four-horned antelopes), chinkaras (gazelles), crocodiles and rarely seen leopards. The park is a great destination for birders too, with more than 300 bird species, most of the residents. While the wildlife has been lucky, more than half the sanctuary’s human community of distinctively dressed maldhari (herders) have been resettled elsewhere, ostensibly because their cattle and buffalo were competing for food resources with the antelopes, deer, and gazelles, while also being preyed upon by the lions and leopards. About 1000 people still live in the park, however their livestock accounts for about a quarter of the lions diet.

  • Visit Takhteshwar Temple, it is located on a hillock near the city. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is an important pilgrim place for the nearby region. It was built in the year 1893 by Maharaja Takhatsihnji. The temple and the whole complex are made up of white shining marble.

  • After breakfast we drive to Palitana. Palitana is located about 50 kms from the Bhavnagar. Palitana is the gateway to the Shatrunjaya hill and one of the Jainism’s holiest pilgrimage sites.
  • There are about 863 temples on the top of the hill, exquisitely carved in marble and built over a span of 900 years. To visit the temples on the Shatrunjaya hill one has to climb 600 m up the hill. After reaching the top of the hill we will visit the Jain temple.
  • The temple which is dedicated to Shri Adishwara, the first Jain Tirthankara (apostle) is one of the most magnificent temples and the most sacred temple on Shatrunjaya hill. After visiting the temple we will visit the Chaumukha or the four faced temple. It has an image of Adinath facing out in the four cardinal directions.  Later drive back to Bhavnagar.

But its decline started after attacks by the Mughal Emperor Humayun in 1535 AD. The entire landscape of Champaner has many ruins of fort walls, tombs, gardens, arches, pillars and wells. It has been named the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Than visit Pavagarh Fort, another well known and ancient fort of Gujarat dominates the skyline and can be seen from miles away. Spread over a large area, the fort rises in three stages: first, the rained part, second, the palace and middle fort and, finally, the upper fort with Jain and Hindu temples (important places of pilgrimage). The temple at the summit had its spire replaced by a shrine to the Muslim saint, Sadan Shah. Jami Masjid – This large, ornate mosque built in 1523 is a typical example of Gujarati architecture

  • The temple which is dedicated to Shri Adishwara, the first Jain Tirthankara (apostle) is one of the most magnificent temples and the most sacred temple on Shatrunjaya hill. After visiting the temple we will visit the Chaumukha or the four faced temple. It has an image of Adinath facing out in the four cardinal directions.  Later drive back to Bhavnagar.

  • Later evening visit Vadodara City: Visit Fateh Singh Museum. This royal art collection includes copies of European works by Raphael, Titan and Murillo and examples of Greco-Roman, Chinese and Japanese art as well as Indian exhibits.
  • Visit Sayaji Bagh, is a popular spot for an evening stroll. Within the park are several attractions. The most important is the Baroda Museum and Art Galary. The Museum has some good Indian statues and carving.

  • After breakfast, drive to Champaner, it is an ancient fortified city, which is located at the foothills of Pavagadh, around 159 km from Ahmedabad.
  • The town has a rich  historical culture and was a major trade center dealing in fine silk, woven and dyed textile, and sword manufacturing. But its decline started after attacks by the Mughal Emperor Humayun in 1535 AD. The entire landscape of Champaner has many ruins of fort walls, tombs, gardens, arches, pillars and wells. It has been named the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Than visit Pavagarh Fort, another well known and ancient fort of Gujarat dominates the skyline and can be seen from miles away. Spread over a large area, the fort rises in three stages: first, the rained part, second, the palace and middle fort and, finally, the upper fort with Jain and Hindu temples (important places of pilgrimage). The temple at the summit had its spire replaced by a shrine to the Muslim saint, Sadan Shah. Jami Masjid – This large, ornate mosque built in 1523 is a typical example of Gujarati architecture
  • Later Drive to Ahmedabad to transfer to airport for board the flight for onwards journey.
